OK, I know this is fan boyish. But. Please join me in voting the following dumb review OFF the Mini page @ Amazon.com. Right now it occupies the #1 spot. It just BUGS me. Thank you for your time. 512ke.

Not as inexpensive as you think....

You would need the following upgrades to make it a semi usable computer....

1 GB RAM upgrade $325 (A 1GB Upgrade for a Dell PC would cost $75)
Hard drive from 40GB to 80GB $90 ($17 for a Dell PC)
Wireless/Bluetooth upgrade $100 ($25 upgrade for PC's)

That makes this $500 Mac into a $1000 plus box and you still need a Keyboard/Mouse/Monitor!!

You can buy a 3.2 Ghz Shuttle PC (small form factor PC) w/1GB RAM/DVD RW/ 250GB HD/128 MB video/ 802.11g Wireless for less then $1000.

The video card in the mini is a joke. Good for web and word only.

If you must be one of the 3% of the world that use a Mac, get something that actually is useful (Like a Duel Power Mac G5 - Although a have decent configured one will set you back at least $4000 with a monitor.).

I'd truly hate to see anyone on the fence not buy a mini due to a review obviously written by someone who has never touched the actual product.

(By the way in the last 15 minutes the negative hits doubled.)
 
My own personal computing preferences aside, what that guy wrote isn't a review. On that basis I reported it as inappropriate.

Now I can put my own preferences back and say that the guy is a jackass, that he's wrong, and that he's "not getting it." Mostly he's a jackass--the kind that makes my life as Mac user difficult.
 
Now it's up to 25 negative hits, from 7.

Has anyone here actually used the Mac Mini? I used one at the store where I used to work and the 1.42ghz model (with 512 ram) was FASTER (mostly GUI stuff, but hey, it's a start) than my rev c 15" 1.33ghz powerbook with 768 ram. I was astounded, saddened and in sudden need for the TINY computer (the ads don't nearly do it justice).
 
Yep, it looks like the negative votes just took it down.

A small but good thing.

I used on in the Apple Store, it was surprisingly fast and tiny or should I say Mini. :p

Typing this on one right now, hooked up to my tv. :)

And I am loving it!

This is my first mac, so I guess they got the job done in gettin this pc user to switch over to a mac (not fully switch, still have my desktop and laptop for other uses).
 
I really like the mini as well the only gripe i have is on using Expose with the 20 plus inch apple displays. Its kind of jagged looking because of the ati 9200 but other than that its pretty darn cool
