Is it me or is Bonjour chat on Messages.app completely broken on Yosemite?
- It stops working, randomly, while still showing Buddies online. Messages sent are never received on either end. Sometimes it does not work at all.
- When I start up Messages.app, conversations show up as user@host and without an image. Switching to buddy list (cmd+1) and double clicking the user restores the image and full name on the conversations window.
- When I start up Messages.app,if the above issue does not appear, I cannot even type something in a bonjour conversation (no blinking cursor). I have to select another conversation, then go back to the one I want and only then it lets me start typing.
- When receiving a notification for an incoming message, clicking on it never takes me to the conversation it should. It just takes me to another (e.g. iMessage). Again I have to select the right conversation.
All updates are installed and my network configuration has not changed since I had Mavericks. 2 Macs running Yosemite, one Macbook running Lion. Funny thing is, iChat on Lion lets me know when the other end of the conversation is unavailable (unlike Messages.app).
Am I alone here? Has anyone got any tips? I really like bonjour chat, I do not want to use iMessage (or any online service) for local network communication and have tons of messages piling up in my iDevices as well. It used to work so well.
