Here's my situation:
KEY
<--xxx--> = connected by wire (replace x's with wire type)
<~~~~> = connected wirelessly (802.11G) to linksys
[ - - - - ] = Linksys WRT54G
iB = iBook G4 [Tiger]
PC = DELL Desktop PC [XP SP2]
PC2 = Averatec laptop [XP SP2]
DESKJET = HP Deskjet 5550
And here's the setup:
[ - - - - ] <--ethernet--> PC
DESKJET <--usb--> iB
iB <~~~~>
PC2 <~~~~>
Here's what I did:
I turned Windows and Printer sharing ON on the iBook. Other Macs print fine to it, they find it and print fine.
The PC's don't find it in the add a printer wizard, so...
I installed Bonjour on the PCs and ran the Bonjour Printing Wizard. It found the deskjet 5550 @ iBookG4. For the driver, I put in the CD of my printer and found the .inf file for the driver. It added successfully and completed the wizard. The printer now shows up in Control Panel --> Printers.
However I cannot print from the PC! I type "test" in notepad, go to file>print. It looks like it spools it and then nothing happens. The PC doesn't show it que'd or anything...it acts as if it printer it.
Any ideas? Sorry about my diagram up there, if I draw network stuff out I can concentrate on it better.
EDIT: If I add the printer to XP normally (not bonjour) as a URL printer http://iBookG4:631/printers/deskjet_5550 and then use the HP Deskjet 1200C/PS driver, it prints to the printer fine. The problem is that it's not the "right" driver, so it doesn't have all the options...like it has Normal/Best instead of fastdraft, everyday, normal, best, photo.
