I should be getting my brand new MBP next week. I'm very new to Mac have primarily used a PC since I probably was in 1st Grade playing Oregon Trail on an Apple computer. To prepare a little for my new computer, I wanted to get one of these books but couldn't decide which was better. I'm looking at either: Switching to Mac: The Missing Manual or the Mac Book Pro portable genius. Anybody know anything about either of these? Any advice would be great.

Go with the Missing Manual series! They treat the reader with respect and intelligence and you'll find yourself keeping it handy as a reference.

So basically i'm better off with a book about overall switching to Mac than my specific computer that i'm getting?

The best way to learn is to just play with it. Of course it does help out to read a bit to get more info. The OSX Leopard Bible is also a good book.

My first Apple encounter was also on the IIE.
