Bookmarks in google maps... from iphone to ipad?

Hey,

I lost my 3gs. Good timing, right? I have a backup of it...

on my old iphone I had many bookmarks in my google maps application.

How can I retrieve the bookmarks? From a backup?

When I get a 4s, will it preserve my google maps bookmarks from the backup? Even if the 3gs was on 4.2.x when it was backed up?

Also, is there a way to get google maps bookmarks from my iphone to my ipad?
