Bookmarks in Safari are not showing?

I just added a bunch of bookmarks in Safari inside of new folders. When I try to access them from the Bookmarks menu at the top of the screen they do not display. I have to click on Show all Bookmarks to get the folders to display on the left side of the screen. Is there a better way to do this?

Did you add them to the Bookmarks menu or the Bookmarks Bar?

When you show all Bookmarks, what heading are the ones you added under?
