I love using Smartplaylists in iTunes but I find them a bit restrictive sometimes.
How would I be able to do something like this:
(Artist is "X" OR Artist is "Y") AND My Rating is "5 stars"

Is there an apple script or something to let me do complicated operations like the one above?

Thanx in advance,
inlimbo...

The easiest way to do this would be to create a smart playlist that would then become part of the final smart playlist. For example, create one that says Artist is "X", Artist is "Y", and use the "match ANY of the following conditions" option. Then, from that, you can create a playlist that says From Playlist: Artist X or Y and Rating is 3 stars, and use the "match ALL of the following conditions."

That being said, I don't like the idea of cluttering up my playlists, just to make a playlist that I really want, so I end up not even making the playlist. The boolean filters would be great not only in iTunes, but also for Rules in Mail. Is it that much harder to code for a boolean string than the way apple has it coded currently? (I'm asking because I don't know.)

Anyways, I'm with you. I would like to see this feature added...but, I guess, at least there are ways around it, currently.

You da bomb!!

Thank you so much for that!!! Never would have thought you could do that.

you seen my thread on subgenres right?
Anyway, 5 better have a hell of a lot more than that!

We also need the option to make track sets collapsable

So you could collapse all of the tracks in an audiobook into a single description line with a twirl-down triangle to expose the tracks when needed.

I second the "You da bomb" motion. Yeah I probably wouldnt have thought of that either. Cheers mate!

But is it possible to do it in Applescript. I dont know anything about Applescripts but I know that they can do cool things.
