ny somewhere
i swear by this app (boom 3D); i only use it for EQ (not for any '3D' effects), and it helps the air's sound immensely.

but i find that, when i wake my air, and boom3D activates... the mac's pan slider moves to the left. so, waking the mac numerous times moves the slider further & further to the left.

i let the developer know. but found a workaround (if anyone is using boom 3D): an app called 'balance lock', which actually snaps the pan slider back to center (or wherever you choose to set it). just letting ppl know. it's a freebie, and on the app store...

balance lock

I managed by using Boom to blow out the speakers on an older MBP a while ago—just be warned it is possible to exceed their limits if you push them.

i've used boom for years (long before the current version), and know enough not to push the speakers too hard. i simply tweak the eq, to compensate for limitations in the speakers, not to drive them to volumes they can't support.

Ha, I guess I wasn't so smart—it was an older 17" MBP I was using as a "television", so I kept pushing it in order to make it do something it couldn't. In fairness it did work for a couple of YEARS before the speakers got distorted, but I'm sure I did it.
