I (like many many others) have spent quite a bit of time (and money) over the years trying to find great bags/sleeves for my Apple products. I've used Waterfield designs, Tom Bihn, and even Booq before - but never really thought about posting a review. However, I'd like to try and reach that 250 post count sooner rather than later, so I thought I'd throw a quick blurb up about how pleased I am with this bag/sleeve combo for my 15" Uni MBP!
First, the skin (Booq Taipan Skin M):
The material is great! I think that the InCase sleeves may have a bit softer material on the inside, but the lining is still soft nonetheless! The skin fits around the MBP like a glove! The first couple of times it takes a little finesse to get the skin completely zipped up. Now it's effortless and I feel it adds that little bit of external protection to the laptop! The sides of the MBP are protected from the zippers thanks to Booq putting a fairly thick piece of material between the inside and the zipper. Just like any other skin, it'll prevent scratches, etc...but it definitely won't stop dents/breakage from a fall.
Then there's the bag (Booq Boa Case M):
My MBP is more or less my portable studio, so I need a bag that'll hold my MBP, wireless keyboard/mouse, some type of small firewire interface for music goodies, and any other small peripherals. This bag has enough room to hold all of this plus there's room to spare! I also like the fact that the laptop compartment is separate from the rest of the bag. The MBP and the skin slide right into the compartment with ease! The bag does have a little bulk to it, but for all of what it can hold, I would expect that.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase and I think anybody looking for a good skin/bag combination would be just as satisfied as I am.
Since I live somewhat-close to the Chicagoland area, I purchased my stuff through PivotGear. This was my first time ordering through them and it was a very good experience! They answered all of my questions within an hour or so and I had my bag and skin only 24 hours after ordering them!
