I'm looking to buy a sleeve for my 15" rMBP. I've had good luck with booq products in the past, but I read a couple different reviews of the Mamba sleeve on Amazon that mention the zipper scratching the corners of the laptop. Is this really an issue, moreso than with other sleeves such as the ones by incase?

mine should be here tomorrow!! will update you when it arrives.. couldnt get hold of a black one anywhere so got grey

Well I dont know about the Booq Mamba but I use a Colcasac sleeve. At first I wanted a waterproof sleeve but I ended up buying this sleeve. I am very very pleased with it. My laptop has full protection in my bag and I have received many compliments about the sleeve. Its very soft and fluffy on the inside so there is no case that my macbook will get scratched. I have heard people saying that the fleece inside sheds but I havent had any issue after 3 months of use.

Booq now makes a zipperless Viper sleeve for the Retina:

I'm debating on picking one up......maybe I'll be the guinea for this one.

I've just received it now! its really light and when your rMBP is in it theres hardly any extra weight (unlike the booq viper sleeve I had for my old unibody MBP). The zips can come close in the corners when closing - however with a bit of care and about 20 seconds you can make sure that the lip that separates the rMBP and the metal zip from coming into contact. I mean if I'm putting my £1500+ laptop in its case i just don't quickly want to shove it in - this gives you a smart form fitting protection that can easily then go into your bag or be carried.
The inside is nice faux fur sort of material that I don't doubt will scratch my laptop and unlike many the rMBP can stay in the bottom part of the case and allow typing etc if on a train table where it may be scratched (I'll be testing this tomorrow when I travel from Kent to Heathrow!)
Compared to the viper I had I didn't worry when closing it as the lip was bigger and covered the zip a little better but I feel over time that the lip will loosen up and then will become easier to close. Although I've just seen the new viper for the rMBP i don't know if i would trust the magnetic opening/closing when carrying around as freak accidents do happen!!
So yeah overall I recommend this over many - if your careful with this then there is little chance that it may scratch it but with care its a 10/10 once again from a booq case!!
