A friend of mine used to have a Boost Mobile phone which got much better signal than my iPhone in the middle of nowhere where I live (read: got signal at all). He doesn't use it anymore so I jacked his SIM. Whenever I put it in my phone I get "SIM Failure" with "Invalid SIM" showing up in the signal area for a second, then switching to one bar (-113 RSSI). Rebooting keeps me at the same RSSI. What gives eh?

Boost mobile is not gsm, it is iden/cdma, so The iPhone doesnt have the radio antennas for that sim chip and that's why it gives you the error. It needs to be from a carrier that uses gsm (AT&T, t-mobile).
