Yeah, I boosted my movie collection in 2015, when I bought the lovely Nordic Noir In Order Of Disappearance.

I thought I’d watch this movie yesterday. But it had gone. Unceremoniously removed from my iTunes movie library collection. So I couldn’t watch it.

I bought the movie again, so I boosted my collection for a second time. It is intensely annoying when this happens. Apple advertise the ability to boost your collection, but they don’t tell you that it can be un-boosted at any time.

Shameful. At the very least they should email out a product recall notice.

Did you do a search for the movie before re-purchasing?

Sometimes, a movie will change distributors and prompt you to re-purchase because the movie ID in iTunes is not the same as the ID with the previous distributor.

Yes, Disappearance is a great movie, much better than Cold Pursuit which was not good.

Yes, I did a search, and it was found available for purchase. Not for playing. It is pretty shabby if a movie arbitrarily changes ID and the customer loses his purchase.

Ok so rather than search did you actually physically look in your library?
Relisted titles won’t show in a search but should still be available in your library.

I searched my library: gone
I searched iTunes online: available for purchase

Please don't take this in any wrong way but can you explain what you mean by 'boosted'???

Also: Looked up that movie...saw it some years ago and it was a very good flick!

I have this question as well. I have no idea what "boost" means when referring to movies.

I assume it is probably some regional slang or an idiom.

My initial thoughts for "boosted" was that it mean to steal movies, but it wouldn't make sense in the context of the OP's post.

My post reminds me of Archer:

Boosted does seem an odd term of phrase, I’m guessing possibly he means when there’s banners like this in the store.

Yes, this. Although I’m sure I’ve seen a similar advert that says ”Boost your collection”. Either way, it’s very annoying when you build a collection only to have it un-built by Apple at a later date, once you’ve handed over the cash.

Apple should take a simple and straightforward stance on this: if vendors wish to sell their movies on the iTunes Store, there should be a clause that, once sold, the file remains available for downloading or streaming in perpetuity, whether or not the vendor subsequently withdraws it for future sale.

In my experience all movies and tv shows that are no longer available or have been relisted and also those relisted and sold under a different studio are still available in my library.

I have been bitten by several purchased movies that have disappeared from my library, never to be seen again. One example would be Lilja 4 Ever, a fine movie that I'd quite like to watch again. My money went down the drain.

Apple do advise to download and store if you have a Mac or PC using iTunes.
I don’t download myself but do know of others that download all their purchases just in case.

Same for me. For example, several years ago I purchased the complete Farscape series and the movie. The series has since been relisted in the store, and the movie is no longer available. They are still in my library, though. This has also happened when Disney relisted some of the early MCU movies I had purchased. I’ve never lost any video content. Music, yes. Video, no.
