Im planning on using Boot Camp and VM fusion, I already know that I'm gonna use Boot Camp for SC2 for maximum performance, but what about for video editing, i.e. Sony Vegas Studios? If I run it via VM fusion, where should I save the video files that ill be editing? OS partition or Windows? should I run it on Boot Camp instead?

BTW how much HDD space should I dedicate for the Windows 7 partition if I want SC2, LOTR BFME (lord of the rings RTS game), Sony Vegas, and Sportsbook Poker ???

Bootcamp

If you want to get the maximum performance for the OS, I'd recommend going the bootcamp way and partitioning the hd 1/3 or 1/2.

As for the storage under VMWare, It'll store it under the windows partition. Now you can make the partitions accessible from either but that isn't recommended for security reasons.

I use vegas 64-bit bootcamped under win7, works quite well. I wouldn't recommend using it under any virtualization unless you are a very occasional user and don't use hd sources.

i use HD sources and i dont mind running it on boot camp, but does that mean that i have to save the videos that ill be editing on the windows partition? i dont really wanna dedicate too much hd space for the windows partition.

Not sure, I know you can read/copy files from the mac volumes. I store existing projects on my win7 partition, when I'm done with them I move them to an external drive to free up space.

I bought a 512 GB SSD and allocated initially 160 GB to the Bootcamp partition. In that I put Windows 7, Adobe Photoshop CS 5, Sony Vegas and a couple other small things. I have yet to load the new Adobe Lightroom 3 there as well - but I have about 100 GB left over (60 GB used).

I was initially thinking "that's too much for Windows" but, while I won't be storing / archiving images there, I recall from past efforts that some of my Photoshop and Vegas projects can get rather large - and I would want the working file in the same partition. Thus, I may go with the 100 GB of free space for now and see whether it really gets wasted....

If I decide to make revisions later, I will be using Paragon CampTune to tweak my partition sizes -

I started with 120gb, I've got vegas, LR, Photoshop, Win7 installed and have about 70gb free if I remember correctly.

thanks for the info! i thought there was no way of readjusting the partition sizes after installing windows.
