I know its good to back up all my info on my comp. but I need to hurry up and install windows so i can use visual studio 2010. Has anyone had problems using Boot Camp and losing there files?

Plenty, though a small fraction.

Visual Studio works fine in a VM, so have you considered VirtualBox instead? (At least until you can back things up).

Nothing's perfect. As long as you have a good back-up of your data, any data loss is just a mild inconvenience .
