My problem has been fixed--please remove this thread!
Hello all,
Weird issue I'm having: I have a game (Final Fantasy XI) installed on Boot Camp with Windows XP Home. It works beautifully, graphics are smooth, no problems whatsoever. I'm using a Macbook Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz with 1GB of RAM, and my DirectX is up to date.
My issue is that when I attempt to play the game on an external monitor, by setting the external monitor as the 'single display' in the Intel GMA Driver panel, when I go to boot up the game, I get an error that reads:
"Terminated as error occurred in FINAL FANTASY XI. Failed to initialize Direct3D. Please check that this computer hs the required specifications to run FINAL FANTASY XI."
I've seen that error message come up before when people try to play this game on a computer that can't run it--but mine can! I've done it a ton of times before, and this only comes up when I've got the Macbook hooked up to an Acer AL1916W 19" LCD with an Apple mini-DVI to VGA adapter. I have tried setting up the external monitor as the primary display (or even a mirrored display) through the Windows display options in Control Panel, but nothing I do can get the screen running the proper resolution, or the proper orientation, and so forth. Windows and everything else displays just swimmingly when I run it through the external monitor, it's just when I try to run the game that I get the Direct3D error.
Any solutions?
