Hey guys,
Ok, I just got my new Mac Pro, set up boot camp on it last night (on a 2nd drive) with Windows 7 RC1. Everything seems to be working ok there.
I also bought new copies of Parallels 4.0 and VMWare 2.x, but I haven't had a chance to really do anything with them except just get them installed.
I see that both have the ability to "import" your boot camp install. My questions are:
1) If they import the Boot Camp install, are they actually running off the Boot camp partition/install? ie: if I do the import and run Windows inside of P/VMW and, say, install an app into Windows, when I go back out and boot to Windows via Boot camp, is it installed there? Or are they going to make a COPY of the Boot Camp install into a virtual disk image?
2) I briefly tried to do the import into parallels last night, but after chugging on it for a while and finally finishing, it seemed like I only had a very basic VM - like 800x600 graphics only, etc. It also said something about making sure I don't change the config much or Windows will complain that it'll need to re-activate. What do I need to do to get better graphics support working?
3) Can you install the tools for both VMWare + Parallels on the same Windows (in my case, my Boot Camp) install at the same time without screwing each other up? I'd only be running one or the other at a time..., never both at the same time...
Thanks!
