when i try to run the boot camp assistant to delete a partition it says you must update your system software before using this setup assistant. I checked everything out, and it is up to date. i thought it might be boot camp, so i uninstalled it and reinstalled it. but it still doesn't work. what should i do now??

I apologize, i am new to this. macbook, 1gb ram, 2ghz. the partition was set up with bootcamp but i never used it. :apple:

was it in a system update, if so, yes.

edit: definetly yes, my computer was having the shutdown problems.

2nd edit: checked my boot rom version, yes again

i have that one too, the orignial wouldn't work without the smc first for some reason, that how i remember. i started to install ubuntu, but it didn't do anything. what i am looking to do is erase the partition, so if there is a way outside of bootcamp that would be great

Use disk utilities or boot into your restore disk and use disk utilities there to format the whacked out partition making sure its the same format as your OS X partition..

You may have to re-install OS X..

In the future use the Mac basics and help discussion and you will get more replies.

i'm sorry to be so annoying but when i go into disk utility, there are no options availible for that disk besides for mount, info, and new image. what should i do

Boot from your install disk and use disk utilities from that.

What's going to happen though is you're going to wind up with two usable partitions..

For me it would be easier to back up my data and do a clean install of OS X.
