Boot Camp Trouble

Alright, I'm a first time Mac user trying to install Boot Camp and I cannot seem to understand what this error message is telling me to do:

"Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again."

It means that it can't install Windows with your drive currently the way it is – maybe it's too fragmented, who knows? I had the same error and ended up reinstalling the OS because I already had everything on my Mac Pro, so I wasn't losing any data.
