Boot Camp with Bootable External Hard Drive

Is is possible to have an external firewire drive that can both boot my Intel Mac for emergency restore and be readable from Windows XPSP2 with Boot Camp? I have MacDrive, so partition formatting isn't an issue. It's the GUID vs MBR that I'm worried about. Can XP32-bit read GUID?
