Boot from SD on rMBP?

Hi, is there any documentation on this?

Whether it's through a bootloader (as far as I'm aware this would need an EFI driver for the SD card reader, since it isn't just a USB device as it was in previous MBPs) or via holding the Option key, I don't care. I'm really struggling to find anything on this.

Need the space on my disk drive, and the USB ports are too limited to be used to boot from
