Fellow MacHeads,

I am wondering if it is possible to run XP from an SDHC card in an SD adapter in my express card 3/4 slot. With the price of these cards falling, I figured I could pop a 32GB card in there and not have to effect my harddrive. Any thoughts?

Matt...

I do not know, but I might try this later just of pure curiosity, however this makes little sense to do since flash cards are very slow (the ones that are cheap enough to replace an expresscard SSD are ~15MB/s or slower which will hardly be enough to run a crippled winxp and vista is out of question and the fastest (~35-40MB/s?) are still slower than HDD, so it would make more sense to just buy a larger HDD anyway.

Windows in general does not like booting off USB devices, it's just about possible with hacking, though even then not sure if it would work on the mac like that or not.

os x would probably boot off SD fine, but doubt windows will.
