Boot from USB device with non EFI graphic card?

I am using an iMac11,3 with Nvidia GPU (GeForce GTX 765M) and I want to update macOS from 10.15.2 to 10.15.3 by using an USB stick with dosdude1 patch. Due to the black boot screen (using a non EFI graphic card) I cannot boot from USB drive.

As I don’t want to switch graphic cards for each macOS patch I am looking forward to any hints!
