I've got a 13" MBP bought in Summer 2009, on the latest version ow SL, with rEFIt installed.
I'm wanting to boot Linux OSes from USB (like you can on any PC) but I'm running into issues. Tried various thing, ending up with rEFIt not reading the USB, calling it Legacy OS (which then boots into my bootcamp partition) and even Windows (despite the only OS on it was BackTrack, and yes, this also booted into my bootcamp partition).
So has anyone managed to get an OS booting from USB? I'm looking to do something like this and having a few operating systems on it (openSUSE, BackTrack etc) but cannot get any of the methods I've found to work.
Any ideas? I know MacBooks aren't ideal for booting from USB.
Oh, and just installing them to the HDD isn't really an option, when I'll be using the USB in many different computers, at home and at school.
Thanks
