I have installed Windows 7 on a USB HDD and can boot from it fine on my PC. When I try to boot from it on my Mac, it says "no bootable volume found". How can I make it boot on the Mac?

Some people online have mentioned using Bootcamp to install windows on my internal drive, then cloning this to the external one and deleting the internal partition. Does this work?
