Hey all,
Hopefully someone here can assist me in figuring out the best way todo what I want.
I have just obtained a Mac Pro 5.1. I did a fresh install of high Sierra which I am using as my boot drive.
I have an old hard drive from an older Mac that is partitioned with bootcamp. (Though I can no longer remember how, the Mac partition of the drive is corrupt or otherwise unusable, however the windows portion works fine).
I currently have this drive installed in one of the internal bays and I can boot into the windows partition perfectly. (Windows 8.1 if it matters)
Having come across this article and others similar suggesting using a complete separate drive for windows with the Mac Pro.
This seems ideal for reasons of simplicity, increased space and distancing from whatever is wrong with the Mac partition.
What I am looking for is the easiest way to migrate/clone/copy the bootable windows partition from the old hard drive to a new separate drive.
I've seen threads suggesting winclone, however Im not sure if that will work for me. Is winclone dependent on being run on the Mac partition of bootcamp drive? (in this case corrupt and not in fact in use)
This seems like such a simple question that I feel stupid asking it, but I figure the answer is blatantly simple or fundamentally flawed (the bootcamp partitioned windows 'drive' being in some way reliant on the underlying macOS partition).
