Hi there,
I'm about to splash out on a new Mac Pro and one of the reasons I need this is to run 3DS and XSI .
I understand I need 64 bit as otherwise it can only see two GIGs of RAM which is no use.
The plan is to have two hard drives, one Mac OS with all my Mac software on it and one for the 3D Windows programs. The XSI forum says the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 graphic cards work fine but I can't sign in for some reason to ask questions. (I've got the same problem with the National Lottery site and they couldn't fix it.)
I only want to buy one version of Windows, as one's quite enough, and am wondering if anyone can advise as to whether I should get Vista or 64 bit XP given possible graphics card driver issues etc.
Thanks very much everybody.
PS. Please no "Why not buy a PC?" posts. I'm not going to for a variety of reasons including not spending another £650 pounds on another copy of Photoshop, not to mention all my other software, and with the specs you need for high end 3D work, Macs actually work out cheaper than the equivalent PC's now anyway (except the RAM, obviously). I know. Surprise!
