HI
now i am wanting to install windows 7 64bit version in bootcamp.
i have checked the compatability list and
my mac pro 15 inch is in it.

but my question is this.

( DO i need any patches or updates to get bootcamp to recocnise the 64bit windows seven. )

I ask because up to now on my other macs, they would only take windows XP 32 bit.

look forward to any replies

Make sure you have the latest Boot Camp, since you will want the updated drivers.

And, I believe, you need a retail copy of Windows. Not an OEM copy.

Boot camp on my 15" i5 Macpro included needed drivers.

When I went to load Win7 on my MBP 3,1 (15") it said it could not run x64 so I only loaded the 32 bit version. It works fine. Just make sure you apply all the upgrades/updates (bootcamp 3.1 then 3.2). The only issue is that on the MBP Win7 refuses to recognize and pair with my Microsoft 5000 bluetooth mouse (it worked fine with XP under bootcamp).

On my MP 4,1 I loaded the x64 version with no issues at all for running Win7 via bootcamp.

However, Parallels 6 refuses to recognize the boot camp install and use it for virtualization on the MP. Parallels 6 runs fine using the bootcamp partition/install on the MBP.
