However, I don't think a lot of people understand what Bootcamp does. Bootcamp doesn't "install" Windows.
Bootcamp Assistant in OS X creates a separate partition on your hard drive for Windows and allows you to burn a CD with Windows drivers. You don't have to use it at all if you prefer a different partitioning utility or if you will be putting Windows on a separate drive altogether. I don't use it.
The Bootcamp drivers can be installed from the CD that Bootcamp Assistant made, or downloaded from Apple. Since they are almost always out of date, many people just download the Windows drivers directly from the hardware manufacturers (such as downloading the video drivers from ATI). I usually download the bootcamp drivers to install them, but then I update the important ones from the manufacturer and/or Windows Update.
