I have a 21.5" iMac 2013 model, with Nvidia 1GB, 1TB Fusion, 16GB RAM.

I'm having a weird issue with trying to install bootcamp. I wanted to use it for some basic gaming and was planning on using bootcamp so I could not be running two OS's at once (such as VMware).

I've tried once to install bootcamp it partitioned fine but then windows 7 refused to install on the bootcamp partition saying it needed to be formatted which I did with the setup of windows 7, it still wouldn't work. I'm not sure if having a fusion drive might be causing issues because there were a lot of drives in the list (Bootcamp was the name of the one I tried).

In this instance I stupidly deleted the partition using disk utility (not bootcamp removal) which made the windows allocated space not available to OS X so I had to restore from a time machine back up.

Take 2, I decided to try windows 8, this time the thing froze in the middle of partitioning and I didn't even get the chance to try the windows installer, luckily this time I didn't have to do a time machine and it appears to have allowed the space be available for OS X still.

I'm not sure what is making it be so complicated, I've used bootcamp on my macbook before which was as simple as putting in the disk, with no CD drive on 2013 models I have to make a USB .

I'm currently on OS X Mavericks 10.9.4
