Hi there,
I have successfully installed Windows 10 pro onto a 50 Gb Bootcamp partition, on my MacBook Air 2016 running Mac OS: Mojave, version 10.14.6.
My Mac Internal SSD is a NV.Me.M2 1 TB Samsung 970 Evo PLus. The SSD is formated with HFS+ and my Mac volume is APFS. Bootcamp partitionned it when it created a 50Gb volume for Windows.
I also have a 200 Gb SDCard with an APFS volume, from where I can boot in Mojave if I need to.
What I can do from my Mac:
- Select MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 in SysPrefs > Startup Disk, and boot back to Mojave
- Press Option at startup and choose to boot from Windows 10
- Press Option at startup and choose to boot from Mojave
What I cannot do:
- In Windows, select MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 in Bootcamp Startup Disk, and boot back to Mojave
- In Mojave, select Windows/Bootcamp in SysPrefs > Startup Disk, and boot back to Windows 10
This is weird because:
- It all worked great in a previous installation on the same machine, before I reinstalled Mac OS a few days ago (I had to reinstall because I needed to reformat the Mac disk in order to resolve the "Incompatible Disk" error after I had installed Monterey in a new APFS volume, but that's another story)
- When I boot from the SDcard volume, I can use Mojave's SysPref > StartUp Disk to select Windows as startup disk. So it seems i can no more select Windows as a startup disk from my main mac Volume only. What could have happen, may be corrupted nvram?.
I've been looking at some forums here, no obvious solution. I'm not confident with my skills about issuing advanced terminal commands and nvram boot options, etc, so, unless I get some detailed and obvious solution (if possible), I guess I'll stick with the Option key / startup manager solution for a while.
Thanks.
