Just thought I'd share the solution to a problem that's been driving me nuts. I'm running Windows 7 in my Bootcamp partition, and was having major problems accessing files > 4GB on the HFS side - MKV files would blow up VLC, or just show up as 8 minutes long in Media Player. Finally solved the problem by going to Macdrive V8, which also allows updating HFS from Windows.
