I just installed w8.1 bootcamp so I was thinking should I update to Windows 10 or format and install from scratch? Im not sure if it will break the boot.

W10 public release is not out yet. And you don't need to format anything. Windows 10 update will take care of everything for you. No need to mess with the bootcamp partition.
