Background info
15" MacBook Pro, Early 2011
Lion 10.7.5
2 GHz Intel i7
4 GB RAM
Intel HD 3000 (384 MB)
I installed Windows 7 a little over a year ago (legitimate copy, installed properly) and it has worked without issue up until now. I have played games and run stats software and the like without any problems. All the hardware functioned properly as well. This was the case as recently as last Friday evening (3 days ago).
Today, I tried to boot into Windows 7, and the madness appeared. I don't have a screenshot, and I'm not sure if I want to try booting into it again without knowing what's causing this. The basic gist of it is: the entire screen is shifted about 3" to the left, and wraps around to the other side. Additionally, thin horizontal slices of the screen are shifted the other direction, making it very difficult to see anything. It looks like someone smashed an LCD monitor.
The screen problems do not persist when I boot into Mac OSX - it's only in windows.
Behind the screen problems, windows appears to function normally - I was able to start up a program and use the menu to restart the computer without issue (except for the fact that the screen is all wacky). I restarted a couple of times and the problem remained.
The only other item of interest is that for the past few months the resolution of the 'boot selection' and 'mac startup' screens has changed, and they are now kind of blurry (incorrect resolution). This might have been about the same time as when I started plugging my computer into an external monitor, but I don't remember well enough to know if they are related.
Anyway, I would really appreciate any help with this, or any thoughts on what the problem might be. Thanks!
