Hi,

I accidentally spilled some water on my Macbook Pro (Early 2015) last week and after attempting to dry it out it is still not turning on and i am declaring it dead.

The laptop was used 95% for Windows 10 and there is a heap of stuff in that partition / environment that i need to recover. The stuff in the Mac side i am fine to lose.

I have two scenarios i am currently looking at:

  1. I was originally looking to buy a OWC Envoy Pro to plug the Macbook hard drive into my Windows desktop to do some basic file recovery via USB. Does anyone know if i could plug this into a Windows desktop PC and be able to boot from the Bootcamp Windows install if the PC supports boot from USB?
  2. I need to replace the laptop with another and I don't really have the $ at the moment to buy a brand new machine, so instead I want to look at the option of buying another Macbook Pro (Early 2015) on ebay and switching out the hard drive (assuming it is still working) - this might be a good alternative to the Envoy Pro. This should likely boot from what i can gather but i am not 100% sure which of the three CPUs i had, as i cant boot to check and Apple support said they cant tell me which is ridiculous. I might have to open up the macbook to check? I read that the Mac OS should work if swapped with a similar model, but i just wanted to check if my Bootcamp Windows install should also boot?
Thanks
