Booting a different Mac with a SuperDuper drive?

Hello all,

I am looking into using SuperDuper to mirror my iMac 27"'s 2TB drive. From what I understand, this backup drive will also be completely bootable. Can I then use this drive to boot up a MacBook Air 11" and be able to use it the same way?

I have to bring my iMac to get the LCD replaced and was hoping I could use the air (haven't bought it yet) to boot identically in the iMac's absence and not run into any workflow issues while it is getting repaired.

Has anyone tried this?
