Hello!

I am very close to establishing a home network that I can access over the Internet from anywhere in the world! Recently I purchased the new early 2015 MacBook Pro and thought that it'd be a hassle to re-download and re-configure everything so that it looks exactly like my iMac at home. Now I understand Apple has continuity and iCloud, etc... But I want to set up my own cloud/server.

I downloaded Server OS X and configured it (to the best of my ability) and I should note that I have an AirPort Extreme plugged into my Actiontec modem which is in bridge mode. My OS actually is on an external drive and my home folders and everything are on that external drive.

I would like to set it up so that I can boot directly from this external drive over AFP or SMB or FTP or whatever is best directly over the Internet using my iMac as a server. Is it possible to boot into two devices from the same files? Ie. My iMac server is booting off this external drive and will be powered on all the time. I also want to boot from that same drive onto my MBP.

If that's not possible - is there a different way of achieving what I want?

Thanks in advance!
