I'm thinking about replacing my 2009 iMac and getting a Mac Mini i7 with Promise Pegasus R4 instead. Has anyone tried running Lion from the Pegasus?
What are the pros and cons?

As I understand it, Sequential Read and Write speeds will be very high but Random Read and Write (which impacts more on the day to day user) might not be that great. Is it worth considering?

The other option is to buy the Mini Server with dual 750s and replace one of them with an SSD. It's something that I don't fancy doing myself as I'm not that handy with my hands.

SSD is a lot faster than many HD in RAID 0. Pegasus would be waste of money unless you need terabytes of fast storage.

Thanks for the advise. An internal SSD would be the way to go but tearing down a new Mini is a scary thing for me.
