Booting from SSD - Snow Leopard Won't Install

Got a new Intel SSD 80GB and wanted to use it as my boot volume. I partitioned it into 2 partitions and tried to install both off my DVD included with my Mac Pro as well as a retail copy. They both stop installing after getting a little bit in and never continue.

I've never used an SSD before but really want to use it since I purchased it.

Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong or what to try?
