Hi
I have access to a 2009 iMac 9,1, which does not have a SD card slot. Unfortunately I can only boot into an old version of OS X. I want to use a current version, so tried installing 10.8 onto a USB drive to boot from that. I tried this and the boot was taking like 10 minutes (because of slow drive speeds I think). Bearing in mind the iMac only has USB 2, is this the only way I can try and do this? Should I try a USB HDD? Will that be faster than memory stick? Will the USB HDD be as quick as the internal HDD to boot from?
Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Sam
