Hey guys,

This problem covers so many topics I'm not sure it belongs here.. or the Desktop forum.. or the Notebook forum.. or what. So sorry if this is in the wrong place

I've got a little bit of a problem. I'm sending my Macbook off for a case replacement (yay! :)), but it'll take 3-5 working days, and I can't afford the downtime due to uni projects and what-not...

SO. I've borrowed the eMac (ATI/800) that my mum uses (she's overseas so isn't using it) and tried to boot my Macbook's internal drive off it. No dice. I'm assuming that it's a APM/GPT problem (let me know if there're other possible problems, tho).

I've seen lots of solutions for the other way around (booting Intel Macs off APM HDs), but nothing for my case...

Is there any way at all to get the eMac to boot off the HD? I'm just looking for a temporary solution while the Macbook's getting repaired, so this is not long-term. I'm aware an eMac 800 with 512mb isn't going to be fast, but it's pretty much that or no computer at all.

Specs:
Macbook
Merom 2.16GHz
320GB SATA HD
Leopard 10.5.6

eMac
G4 800MHz (ATI graphics version)
160GB PATA HD
512MB RAM
Tiger 10.4.11

I also have "access" to an eMac 1.25GHz (if I can "persuade" my little brother to swap for the 800MHz for a week :D), if that makes any difference.

Conditions: I need to be able to boot off the Macbook's HD into my own system, not just access my files off the HD. There's some software I'm using that isn't on the eMac's own drive. Plus I'd like to be able to access my own Mail.app/Safari bookmarks/etc..

Thanks so much in advance! :D
