Hi,

I'm new to this community so forgive me if I'm asking a question that's been asked loads of times before.

Ok, this is my issue:

I am running an iMac bought Feb 2010 and I am looking to install Lion but with what I'm running at the moment on Snow Leopard, my computer is slightly lagging during startup. Therefore, I was hoping to boot Lion from an SSD when it is released to speed up my processor. However, obviously my computer only has 1 hard drive bay and I'm not confident in opening it up to change that to a hybrid drive or large capacity SSD altogether.

Therefore, I have the idea of connecting a firewire 800 SSD drive to my iMac and dual partitioning it (to install Windows for CAD software to run, would rather not but don't have a choice) and then installing OS X on one partition and booting from that.

I would like to know how to install Lion on the partition I choose it for once I download it from the Mac App Store and how to remove all traces of Snow Leopard from my HDD so that my computer uses the SSD to run the OS and the HDD for file management. I hope this is possible as my computer is starting to run slow with the stuff I run on it now and would very much like to have my still shiny iMac running perfectly with Lion.

Thanks in advance,

Jack :) :apple:
