Is this possible?
I know you can use Bootcamp but I'd like to avoid installing a separate partition but want to be able to run Windows 7 occasionally.
I have VMWare 3 - but the performance is terrible no matter how much I mess with the memory settings and processors.
I found this guide
http://tubeshards.wordpress.com/2006/12/05/install-windows-to-a-macintosh-usb-drive/
that referred to an involved process of editing and recreating an Windows install here: http://www.ngine.de/index.jsp?pageid=4176
Can't you force the Mac to boot from a USB drive at start up and have Windows install the boot up to this device?
Or has this functionality deliberately been disabled because for some reason MS sees it as wrong?
