Just installed a new 360GB OCZ Agility 3 (2.22 firmware) which I picked up for $199. Also bought the Seagate STAE122 GoFlex desktop adaptor and the Apple TB cable. I went with the desktop adaptor as it comes with its own power supply so no worries on max SSD size. The STAE121 portable adaptor which is powered only from the TB cable seems to have issues sometimes with larger SSD drives. It all seems to be working like a charm so far but I have questions.

My iMac is 27" 2011 i7 at 3.4ghz. I ran BlackMagic disk test and only showing around 200MB/s read and write. Does that seem right? It definitely is running everything faster/snappier and boot is very quick now but I thought it would bench a little higher than that, maybe 250ish MB/s. Just curious. My understanding is the Vertex would do over 400MB/s if attached to the internal Apple SataIII interface. Not sure I would really notice the difference in real life though.

Also, has anyone determined if the Seagate GoFlex adaptor is SataII or SataIII? and do both versions of the GoFlex TB adaptor (Desktop and Portable) use the same chipset internally?

Wasn't sure if I would like having the boot drive as an external but now that I have it working I think I prefer it. Feels good being able to easily replace the drive if necessary and I have both iMac and SSD connected to UPS so no power failure worries. Thanks!

James
