If I go through the process described here and nothing is in the disc drive it will default to the HDD right? I'm in the process of installing Lion, I'm on Lion, you can see why here:

The process I am describing is referred to here:
http://kb.iu.edu/data/ages.html
As:
I attempted to press c, but it did not work. Perhaps I should try the second option instead?
I'm going to give it a go and be back. Please leave feedback if at all possible, any and all help is definitely appreciated. I'm kind of a noob on Macs and I need a fresh install.
----------
Option key seems to do nothing as well.
Any ideas? Usually on windows it will just auto-detect the boot cd and initiate the install or maintenance sequence.

As:
Permanently changing your startup volume: While running in Mac OS X, select System Preferences... from the Apple menu, and then choose Startup Disk. Choose your startup volume and then restart. Unlike with the other options in this list, this new volume will be the default until you change it.
I attempted to press c, but it did not work. Perhaps I should try the second option instead?
Accessing the startup manager: Restart your computer and immediately press the Option key. Icons for all available startup volumes will appear. Use your arrow keys to select the one you want to boot from, and then press Return.
