hi folks,
I have a slight issue and I wonder if you guys could help me figure out the best solution.
At home: 2012 13" MBP
At Work: 2011 13" MBP
I travel a lot and didn't want to lug both MBPs with me (for the cases where I need to do some "at home" type work.) I clone my MBP to an external USB 3.0 hd, encrypted. I want to keep my work and my home stuff separate.
I figure I can boot up from my clone drive by plugging it into the work laptop, do my work, and then, when I'm done traveling, clone it back to the home laptop with super duper or ccc.
Anyway, I tested out that theory today and am typing from it right now. It's really slow. Obviously I'm not expecting my normal SSD drive speeds but something like word takes 20 bounces to open and switching between windows takes a couple of beats. Is this simply a case of being external AND encrypted?
What can I do to speed up my machine when running off an external boot?
thanks
