Hi.
I had an old Mac Mini (late 2006 or mid 2007) laying around and figured i could put XBMC on that sucker and use it as a HTPC.

Anyways the last time i used it i managed to mess it somehow up, so i took it apart, took the hard drive out and put it into my PC and formatted it (i think i formatted in NTFS by accident, does that matter?) I then put the drive back into the mac mini and made a USB disk with Ubuntu on it to install onto the mac but it doesn't let me select the USB as a boot option.

Whenever i try to start the mac i press the Alt button on the keyboard (using a pc keyboard) to select what to boot up but i just get a grey screen and the pointer (which i can move around using my mouse).

I have tried using Unetbootin and LiLi to create the USB drives with no luck, i have also used this USB stick to install Ubuntu on other computers including the Mac mini a couple months ago when it was in working order.

The CD drive is broken so i can't put a installation cd in there. Would it matter if i make the bootable USB on by brothers macbook instead of my PC?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I really want to use the mac as a HTPC.

Thank you
