Some people when their bored go out and do things, I decided to install a Point of Sale system in my parent's kitchen just for the hell of it. Hey it works, its cool, and I can sell the complete setup for over $1,000 :). This POS is anything but a POS (First POS meaning Point of Sale, second meaning Piece of S****).

Yeah it's Windows based, but there aren't really that many good Mac based point of sale systems out there. I am thinking about ordering an IBM SurePOS 700 to complete the official Point of Sale setup :).

So what do you guys think?

Wow, you must have been very bored :D

I want to say it's ridiculous to do that, but at the same time it does work. So I really can't say anything bad about it.

I know you said you weren't done yet, but how long did it take you to make what you have so far?

There are already plenty of good, cheap, robust EPOS systems out there. I'd also worry about stepping on trademarks and such.

If its for private use... trademarks would be the least of my worries.

Of course, but that's not what it says in the first post.

It is all off the shelf products. There is nothing special here, "built" amounts to "I bought some products and put them together like anyone else could do." Here I came in thinking the OP did something new.

I have to imagine this cost more than $1000, or at the very least the margin would be pretty tight.
