Recently purchased a 27" iMac as my first mac and am looking for a set of speakers for my new setup. After searched around forums and the net, I have narrowed down my options between these two speaker sets(both using DACs):

1. Bose Companion 5 (like the visual 5.1 effect)
2. Focal XS 2.1 (save desk space for an iphone dock)

I will be using it for both movies and music. Anyone here tried either/both can share your thoughts?

Thanks!

I currently have the Bose Companion 5 hooked up to my Mac Mini. I've had the Bose since it came out a couple years ago. I too, would like to try the Focal but cant seem to find a store that has them on display in my area. I use focal speakers in my car and they are very clean.

I own the Bose Companion 5. It's a wonderful sounding system with a nice surround effect. Really gives music and movies a nice sound. It's the best sounding speaker system I've heard attached to a computer. The Focal system looks nice. They don't mention any sound processing, so that might be a weakness there.

The built-in iPod dock is a nice touch though. Assuming you can play from the iPod with the computer off.
