So, I bought a pair of Bose Companion 5's to give them a run and see if I like them. The come with the Volume Puck and it functions to Mute the music however it doesn't function to adjust the volume. Has anyone else had this issue? Bose Support was not helpful.

On a side note... you if have a 27 inch iMac you have to exceed the recommended maximum 24inch spread between the speakers and this does affect the sound quality

I am looking for sound that can also be heard in other rooms of my house so I probably will swap this out for A5s...

Crap!!!! I wanted to get these speakers, but didn't realize they don't work with a 27" screen. :'(

The manual recommends they are not wider then 24 inches apart.... and the screen is 27 inches.... I can tell the difference when the are wider the sound takes a dramatic reduction in "richness"

I have C5's plugged into my MBP. The puck works just fine for me. You may have to play with the sound volume coming out of the computer as well. Are you at the max or bottom of the computer output level for that sound device? You can check in the Audio/MIDI app. If you are all the way down, then try turning the computer level up. If you are all the way up, try turning the computer level down. Then adjust the hockey puck. I have the speaker on the side of a 22" monitor and the sound is fine.

I just bought a pair of bose companion 5s for my dad for christmas. we havent set it up yet though. hopefully i wont have the sound problem you describe

I bought the C5's and absolutely really don't like them. At all. The build quality's fantastic but the sound quality is *horrible* for music, maybe OK for movies. So they're going back to the store.

Very weak bass, super harsh and over the top highs, with sibilance, mid bass out of subwoofer, mid RANGE out of subwoofer. Just a bad system.

Gonna get a Klipsch iFi system for use with computer and it blows away the Bose system (I actually own one Klipsch iFi already)
