just got my 2012 macbook air 11 inch and i feel like the bottom corners are a little darker then the rest of the display. not sure if this is just a visual trick due to the silver bezel or if i actually have a screen issue. its noticed when I'm working with white backgrounds (pages/websites).

im surprised this is just expected..does it have something to do with the screen technology? shocked more people arent posting complaints

It's generally not very noticeable unless its a white background, as you state, and some are worse than others. If it bothers you try an exchange.

is it even worth the exchange? mine isnt terrible compared to some photos i have seen. is there even a perfect one out there, or will i just end up with the same thing (or worse)

Is it even noticeable when you are using a white background? These things don't bother me, but the drive some people nuts. You may get a better one, but you may not - it really just depends on how much it bothers you.

I don't believe you are seeing a visual trick. The reports from 11" owners are pretty consistent that the bottom corners have slight lighting issues. Upgrade to the 13". ;)

Have you tried adjusting the screen brightness?
On mine there is a very faint shadow along the bottom, but once I turn the brightness up I can't see it.

i have tried brightness and color calibration adjustments with no luck. i dont want to upgrade to 13 as i have a retina for my larger computer. its really not that bad honestly im just a little annoyed i guess.

I've seen this on all my Macbook Airs, 11 and 13". it's weird but you get used to it pretty quickly. At least it's uniform :)
